I Went to Grand Bazaar today but apparently Photoworld has moved out. So then i went to the Superpharm by Valpark but they said only their West moornings branch does film, then i went to Pricesmart chaguanas, but they have also phased out film. So, are there any places in central that still does film?

On a side note. Most of the time, when someone slaps one of those lame film statements on me like “Film, oh ya, I remember that stuff, heh, heh,” it is a sure sign that their work really sucks. Like really sucks. Like it has unicorns in it and the painter tool and shots of their kids with purple fog around the edges.

The crappy place by Busy Corner in Chaguanas? Chung's in Couva?
Camera matters much less than the photographic eye and the ability to compose a good picture. After all, you can take a great pic with a cell phone.

Niver miss an opportunity to photograph a good sunrise. It might be the only thing to remind you that your day did not start out that bad.

Sadly, the only film i could find was from a shitty point and shoot underwater camera i used in Barbados a few years ago. I got it scanned at photoworld Trinicity. They took only an hour and it wasn't expensive ($30TT) but the resolution is not high at all; 1.58Mpxls. I'm guessing the negatives were probably terrible, but i got like 4 nice pictures out of the set of 26. Here's one:

After i dropped the same roll of film off at pricesmart mausica to get scanned. Their price is cheaper ($17TT) but the woman at the counter was kinda bitchy, plus they say i have to wait 5 hours to get the scans back. I shall update this post when i decide to go and pick it back up.

I got back the scans from Pricesmart. They apparently use the same machine. So the everything is about the same, except that pricesmart took the time to do a little post on the pics, such as color correct etc. SO Lets review:

PhotoWorld:
Cost $30
Res. 1.5MP
Time: 1hr
Friendly Service
Scans are untouched, scanned as-is.

PriceSmart:
Cost $17
Res. 1.5MP
Time: 4-7hrs
Bitchy foreign woman at the counter.
Scans edited.

I'm gonna go with photoworld.

I'm glad you got some nice pictures. That one you posted is very nice. The bad news is that ALL (and I mean ALL) photo labs in Trinidad offer appalling scanning services. Sadly, if you're interested in quality output from film it means that you'll have to handle every stage yourself (development, scanning, printing) or send the film abroad to a reputable pro lab.

The negatives are decent. I used the same photoworld negatives and got them scanned at Cave Shepherd (Barbados) on a recent trip. World of difference in the scans. The problem is not the negatives. It's the scanning they do. Might make sense to buy a dedicated film scanner and do it - can't be that much worse than the Photoworld machine.

Yea i though so. Horrible local stuff. I bought the Canon LiDE 700F last night. Wasn't too expensive and seems to produce good results from what i saw online.

Muahhahahahahahah I got my Holga today. Shot a roll of 35mm. Had to reel back the roll by hand in a dark place when i was done, and half the time i think i left the lens cap on the camera. Gonna drop it off tmrw to process and probably get more film. I shall post my results when i get it back.
